FULL-TIME LINE COOK IN INDUSTRIAL HEALTH CARE KITCHEN

Senior Citizens Retirement Community in San Rafael has a Full-Time, 40 hours per week opening for a Line Cook experienced in working in an Industrial Health Care Kitchen.. The right candidate for this must be available to work days, evenings, weekends & holidays. Shift varies.
Rate of Pay: $18.00/hr. /*$500 Sign On Bonus

*Payable after 6 months of continuous employment

SCHEDULE:
40 Hours per week, includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists Sous Chef & Lead Cook with food production. Prepares and cooks vegetables. Prepares and cooks starches for menu.  Occasionally prepares sauces for vegetables, salads and salad dressing and/or desserts and dessert sauces. Prepares plate garnishes. Assists Chef with special catering events.  Makes stocks when necessary.

Takes weekly and monthly inventories.  Responsible for all cleaning and sanitizing as described on department cleaning list receiving and issuing supplies to Food Service and maintaining high standards of safety and sanitation.

OTHER DUTIES:
May perform miscellaneous food service tasks such as delivering hospital trays, assisting in the serving of food and similar tasks. May do some prep cook duties as required and performs related work as required. May assist in agency tray line prep for the Health Center trays. Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Required to wear agency food service safety gear to include but not limited to; hairnets, sanitary gloves, cut gloves, rubber soled-anti slip protective shoe and safety glasses/goggles.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Knowledge of heavy duty kitchen equipment & food preparation.  Ability to follow written & verbal instruction.  Ability to organize & maintain walk-ins & cold prep areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or more years previous experience in the kitchen of a commercial institutional food service facility. Must meet health assessment required by the CA Department of Public Health as well as TB testing and fingerprint clearances required by the CA Department of Justice. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required. Must be available to work a variety of shifts to include mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Patience and understanding of the aged is required.
